Last year I felt I was in a huge rut that I would never be able to get out of! I woke up every single day disappointed in myself & depressed. I was not happy, I knew I needed to make a huge change in my life I just didn’t even know where to start! I am so grateful I found 3 Peaks CrossFit and their 6 Week Kickstart Challenge!

I was beyond intimidated by the word alone “CrossFit” but I knew if I wanted this change I had to do it & stick with the 6 weeks! Those first 6 weeks flew by! & My perspective of CrossFit changed quickly! Before starting I thought okay I’ll do 6 weeks and then I can do whatever I want and eat whatever I want…I was so wrong! About week 4 in, it just clicked for me! I knew I had to continue going and pushing myself! I knew I had to keep setting goals! It’d be so easy for me to fall back into my old ways! It was so easy for me to get to the point I was at & it’s been an amazing hard battle getting to where I am now!

I don’t ever want to throw my health & fitness to the side again! I know I can do anything I set my mind to & I honestly never believed that before now! Last year I was insecure, depressed, tired all the time, I never went anywhere unless I had to because I was so embarrassed, I was beyond embarrassed of the way I looked & felt! Today I am gaining my confidence back, I’m so much happier, I actually take pictures of myself now & not avoid them like I use to, it’s still a struggle some days to keep pushing forward but it’s beyond worth it! If you feel like your in a rut & cant get out of it. Please know you can & will!!! If I can do it , so can you!!!

Gratitude cant give enough respect and thanks to the Coaches at 3 Peaks. It’s a much deeper inner expression of a multitude of joy and genuine appreciation for what has been given to me that I know I will never be able to give back! The personal attention and intuitive response the Coaches give to individuals, including myself, has been such an instrumental motivator to keep going!

I have struggled my whole life with my self image, self esteem, and self respect that I hated the thought of going to a gym because the thought of someone seeing me and judging me prevented me from taking care of myself. I’ve always been too embarrassed and ashamed of what I look like. Today, I would have never thought I would have gotten this far in my health journey. I’ve lost weight, I’ve made personal records, I’ve been overcoming strongly entrenched emotions and mental breakdowns, and for the first time I am using my limitations and negative feelings to fuel me to keep moving instead of influencing me to give up! Positive feedback and encouragement from everyone in the box makes me look forward to starting my day early and taking care of myself! I don’t feel judged in any way, shape, or form…and that’s a first! We all may not have the same goals in CrossFit or really know each other well, but we have the same motivation and mindset and it’s to take care of ourselves and to be there for others. We can’t take care of people we love and care about if we don’t take care and love ourselves first!

One of the most compelling moments I had thought of was when Coach Mel said “We finish every rep in a WOD”. I thought about that statement and I realized this isn’t just physical but mental and emotional training as well…We may be at our wits end, completely exhausted, in pain and sweating, but if we know we have just 3 more reps until we are done with a workout then we give it all our power to make sure it’s done and we finish with our best efforts! And I thought about how all the times in the past when I tried and tried and tried to lose weight and get healthy and it just ended up failing…it was because I didn’t have that mindset of “only 3 reps left”. I gave up because I was too tired emotionally, mentally, and physically to keep going and I let that effect my desires and goals. It’s different now. When any challenge comes up, physical or not, I have to tell myself to keep going! Why? 1)Because I can finish and complete any challenge that presents itself if I keep fighting to overcome it, and 2) Because I have to love and respect myself in order to genuinely love and respect others.

My time here at 3 Peaks has been irreplaceable! The comradory within the walls, the challenges I’ve been able to overcome, and the obstacles I’ve been able to soar over, I have to give credit, not only to my personal support team, but especially to all the wonderful coaches and people here at 3 Peaks as well!!! Behind its humble doors, lives blossom and grow!!!

I started CrossFit 3 years ago and became hooked quite quickly. I came into this with no exercise routine and was rehabbing a previous back injury. Coach Mel and Coach Claude were very patient with me and made sure that I used proper form for all of the exercises before allowing me to progress in weight. As I have made progress,they push me to achieve my fullest potential. I cannot thank them enough for the help and support.

The people here are great as well. All of the athletes and coaches are very fun to be around and seem to genuinely care about the rest of the group. The daily workouts are generally fun but challenging. Each WOD can be modified to meet the needs of an athlete, so anyone can come in and get moving. The coaches are very good at modifying a workout to suit someone who might be dealing with an injury or other issue.

I want to encourage others to come on in and sweat with us. You’ll feel better after you’ve tackled a tough WOD. I always do.

Brace yourself, I believe I am the oldest member at 3 Peaks CrossFit…i am 71 in 3.5 months i will be 72! CrossFit it not about ego so leave it at the door..it is about doing the best you can… emphasis on you. Dont compare what others are doing as each of us are at different levels. I am not at the same level as a 25 yr old…but i still can do the WOD… everything can be modified. If i can do it so can you!

The commodory is something that helps you push thru, having your classmates cheer you on…yes you can…you can do this. words i have heard when i wanted to quit, but didn’t. Last year my Hubby of 35 yrs got stage 4 cancer, I didn’t go to the box as much ..he passed away in August 14 2016. Many of my CrossFit family came to my home, many helped me … bringing food, meals they cooked, dog food… and looked after me. I returned a couple of months later.. I cried through my WOD but it was ok…i felt safe at the box and no one made me feel uncomfortable about crying…that’s family..these are friends..

Its been almost four years since i joined…i can run without gasping for air, although running is not my first love..i can jump rope, attempting the elusive DU…i can lift a fair amount of weight..Dead lift my personal fav…wall balls my least fav but i do them.

I have walked no dragged myself into the box feeling awful, grief can take you down but i show up…i do CrossFit in honor of my beloved hubby who was very proud I went…i do CrossFit for me because i always feel better after. I have been a member at 3 Peaks CrossFit for just over nine months now. I started as a part of a 6 Week Challenge. I had no idea what CrossFit was all about. I learned that it has a little bit of everything.. Weight training, cardio, gymnastics, yoga, even games.

Everyday is different and challenging. I was a little overwhelmed at first to be honest, but the Coaches and other athletes are so encouraging. Every move is modifiable. My original goal was to lose weight and hopefully get better heart health. I have lost weight, gained more muscle than I have ever had, but most importantly I have significantly improved all of my cholesterol numbers! My work is very stressful, and CrossFit has been the best stress reliever for me..

I can’t imagine my life without it at this point. I’m sold!
