Here are some questions we asked Melissa, and her answers!!
1. How were you introduced to CrossFit?
I was introduced to CrossFit by my brother in-law while traveling in Peru. I could see the potential for fun as soon as we started doing toes to bar!
2. If you never had to do this one exercise ever again, it would be…
I love all of the exercises..all of them present a challenge that I love to meet!
3. If you had to make up your own WOD it would be?
My dream WOD would include burpees, pull-ups, rope climbing, back squats, and dancing (Zumba).
4. Tell us a little about yourself, families, hobbies, job etc.
Born in Atlanta, GA and moved to Richland WA when I was 3.5. Played a lot of soccer growing up. Met my husband Bill in 7th grade in English class. We dated in High School, but didn’t date in college as he was at Notre Dame and I was at Wazzu. Married in 2000 and had our first of two children in 2008. Lived in Portland and Spokane for Bill’s medical training and then moved to Baker City OR for my hubby’s first medical practice. Love living in Madras and being close to Bachelor, rafting locations, hiking locations and BEER.
5. Your proudest accomplishment?
My proudest accomplishment is helping build a curiosity in my children that encourages them to ask questions, read, play outside, and never stop learning.
6. Your favorite cheat meal?
My favorite cheat meal is a slice of my Grandma Nonnie’s chocolate cake with buttercream icing and a big glass of red wine.
7. What you love about 3 Peaks CrossFit?
My favorite thing about 3 Peaks is the kind, encouraging, and friendly people that are there. I can’t help but smile and have a good time even in the toughest workout.
8. Something we might not know about you is?
Something you might not know about me is that when times get tough, I pretend I’m in a musical and sing in my head. It brings lightness to any situation when I can sing about sorrows and pains. The next song is usually a happy one!
Melissa,
Congratulations. This is quite an accomplishment, and now we know what you do when you have spare time. Keep up the good work. Our love to you, Bill and the kids.
