Our July Student Athlete Highlight is…
Lindsy Abendschein
Congratulations Lindsy! We are so proud of your dedication to health and your progress since January! You are a go getter, always pushing and encouraging others! It is an honor to have you at 3 Peaks and we can wait to see what the rest of 2017 unfolds for you!
Here are some questions we asked Lindsy:
1. How were you introduced to CrossFit?
To be totally honest, I was really tired of feeling so uncomfortable in my clothes. I saw an ad for the 6 week challenge and decided to see what it was all about. I had heard of CrossFit, but had no idea exactly what that meant.
2. If you never had to do this one exercise ever again, it would be…
Anyone who has done a WOD with me knows the answer to this. I HATE rowing!!! My Husband says I am a complainer, so I know that I have most likely complained while having to row.
3. If you had to make up your own WOD it would be?
I really like the partner WODs when there is a large amount of exercises and you can split the work. I like squats, lunges, running and clusters. I would leave the pull ups out.
4. Tell us a little about yourself, families, hobbies, job etc.
I recently turned 45, and I’m OK with it because I feel healthy. I have been with my Husband Kevin since 1995. I have 4 daughters. Lainee 26, Maycee 24, Kylee 14, and KayDee 10. I don’t recommend having that many daughters. It has been an adventure. I have worked at the hospital in Madras for 18 years. I have a philosophy, and I work to live. Meaning, I always have a vacation planned for the future. I have been to Hawaii 4 times and we try to go to Disneyland every other year. I love Disneyland!
5. Your proudest accomplishment?
My daughters were 4 and 2 when I went to nursing school as a single mother. I had 3 part time jobs and attended school full time. It was a very busy few years, but I knew I wanted a better life for us. I graduated with a 3.76 GPA.
6. Your favorite cheat meal?
Anything Mexican including margaritas. Also my Husband makes really good crepes.
7. What do you love about 3 Peaks CrossFit?
I love that crossfit is all inclusive. You have cardio and strength with so many different moves and combos. It’s always a surprise. Sometimes not a pleasant one. I also really like the structure of the WODS and the encouragement from fellow crossfitters and coaches. I look forward to challenging myself, even after a really long work day. Crossfit has been the best stress reliever for me.
8. Something we might not know about you is?
I played softball in high school. My junior year we won the State Title. I was inducted into the Henley High School Athletic Hall of Fame a few years ago with my softball team. This year Henley High softball won the State title for the first time since my team won. Some of my teammates daughters were on that team. I thought that was pretty awesome!
