Our November Athlete Highlight is:
Ian Nelson!!!!
Congratulations Ian! We are so thankful to have Ian apart of the 3 Peaks Community! He is diligent about his workouts, extremely coachable, and a positive encourager to his box mates. He always gives 150% to doing his best and learning as much as he can to improve in technique. Ian we appreciate you so much and appreciate all you contribute as an athlete at 3 Peaks!!!
Questions we asked:
1. How were you introduced to CrossFit?
Years ago my wife told me about this workout program she’d heard about that involved real body motions and free weights to get fit, it was CrossFit. I thought it sounded neat but kept on with my current fitness program (which was nothing really). When I started feeling weird pains in my back while lifting patients at work I figured I needed to actually do something to get stronger. By this time Nina had actually gone in for a free session at Three Peaks and was really impressed by it but was intimidated to try more. I thought I’d give the free session a try and I’ve been hooked ever since.
2. If you never had to do this one exercise ever again, it would be…
Overhead Squats!!!
3. If you had to make up your own wod it would be?
3x
800m Run
40 Burpees
40 Sit-ups
40 Air Squats
4. Tell us a little about yourself, families, hobbies, job etc.
I’m a husband to Nina and father to Isaac, Eva, Ella and Isaiah. I enjoy archery hunting, backpacking, and running. I work as a Captain and paramedic at Jefferson County EMS where in addition to responding to emergencies I’m responsible for making sure the ambulances are properly supplied.
5. Your proudest accomplishment:
I’m pretty proud of the work I do, when I actually have the opportunity to help someone and am able to do so, nothing is better.
6. Your favorite cheat meal?
Does ice-cream count? No? Ok. I really like tacos. And doughnuts. I’m pretty sure most of my meals are cheat meals. Sorry, not sorry.
7. What you love about 3 Peaks CrossFit?
I love that I can come here and get my butt kicked and feel great about it. I love that I’m stronger than I’ve ever been, faster than I’ve been in a long time, and feel vigorous. I love that 3 Peaks is not just a gym or a box full of strangers, it’s a community.
8. Something we might not know about you is?
I was born in California. Don’t tell.
